Department of Housing and Urban Development
The Department of Housing and Urban Development's Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (CFBCI) launched the "Reaching the Dream" (RTD) initiative in Portland, OR, in June 2003. Through this initiative, CFBCI will provide technical assistance (TA) and homeownership training to select faith-based and community organizations (FBCOs) in the cities of Albuquerque, NM; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Nashville, TN; and Portland, OR .   http://www.hud.gov/offices/fbci/index.cfm
Department of Justice
On January 29, 2001, President Bush issued two executive orders related to faith-based and community organizations. The first executive order established a White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. The second order established centers to implement this initiative at the Department of Justice, along with the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Housing and Urban Development.
